tips for informants. To become more proactive, the World Bank Group is exploring new methods of detecting potential fraud and corruption based on data exploration.
The main source of data for fraud and corruption detection comes from the procurement of goods and services funded with World Bank loans and grants. Contractors providing goods and services on World Bank projects are typically hired through a competitive bidding process. Occasionally, prospective contractors in uence the competitive system by colluding with other contractors, bribing government o cials, or otherwise manipulating the bidding process. These offenses have far-reaching effects on the price and quality of contract delivery.
